Easy to use, Goldfinger is simply applied with a soft cloth or finger and after a short time can be buffed to a fine lustre. It produces a really professional finish with no signs of metallic particles or smears. For intricate work, Goldfinger can be thinned with white spirit or turps and used with a brush. To preserve the lustre Goldfiner can be treated with Goldfinger Varnish. It is very economical in use - a little Goldfiner goes a long way. Red variegated (gold with hints of reds, coppers and deep pinks).
This is metal leaf which has been treated to create colourful patterns in the leaf. The random patterns vary from pack to pack.

Gold is measured in karats in the USA, 24k is pure gold and is considered to be 99.99% pure. It's measured by purity in Europe and 999 is the equivalent to 24k.Gold leaf has been used for centuries to gild items, plain and ornate, to make them look like they were made of pure gold.
The leaf is so incredibly thin that, although it's made under the strictest of conditions there are always a few specks of dust to contaminate the gold, making it just slightly less than pure.
Gold Leaf Size is 85x85mm.
A book contains 25 leaves, a pack contains 20 books, or 500 leaves. A book covers 2 square feet; each pack covers 39.50sq.ft. without waste or overlap.

Composition Leaf (also known as imitation leaf or Dutch gold): Made from brass and a combination of zinc and copper.
Thickness is approximately 0.3 microns.
Copper: is a red/gold colour, composed of 12% zinc and 88% copper.
Gold: has a colour similar to that of 22K gold leaf, composed of 15% zinc and 85% copper.
Aluminum Leaf: This is silver in colour and made from pure aluminum.
Composition gold leaf or Dutch Metal is 140x140mm.
A book contains 25 leaves, a pack contains 20 books. A pack of 500 leaves covers 105 sq.ft.,
Imitation gold leaf must be sealed or will tarnish!

Shellac Flakes Dissolved in Methylated spirits.
Use as a wood working finish or a varnish for gilding.
To have fresh shellac it is best to purchase Shellac flakes and dissolve your own.
Shellac flakes don't lose their drying ability, it's only after they've been dissolved in methylated spirits or denatured alcohol that process begins.
Mix only the amount of shellac that you need for a project, as it has a very short (several months) shelf life. To make a pint of
shellac, place 2 oz of flakes in the container, add 8 ozs of Denatured alcohol or methyl alcohol,
and let it sit for 24-48 hours.
Stir every few hours.
After all of the
flakes have dissolved, you will need to strain the shellac. Use cheese
cloth and a wire mesh basket for this task.
Denatured alcohol can be substituted for methyl alcohol (denatured alcohol is ethyl alcohol with a little does of gasoline to ruin its taste), but shellac dissolves better in methyl alcohol.
Mix in a dark plastic or glass container with a tightly fitting lid. Store in a cool and dark place if a clear container is used. Soak the flake shellac in about 1/2 of the total alcohol to be used for 24 hours or longer (cool room temperatures will slow the process; pulverize the button shellac to speed dissolving) stir occasionally and when dissolved add the balance of the alcohol
After the shellac is fully dissolved, it should be strained through a fine mesh cheese cloth to remove any impurities. Shellac is made from the lac bug and a few bits of bug carcass are often left particularly in Seed Lac.
Before the liquid shellac is used, it should be shaken or stirred thoroughly and allowed to stand for a few hours.
By mixing your own flakes, you will have removed one of the many variables, the age of the shellac. The older the mixture the longer it takes to dry so unless you intend to use any leftover shellac within few months, throw it away.
Shellac is environment friendly and will kill weeds by stopping photosynthesis in foliage
